THERMOSTAT CONTROL

  • The Thermostat regulates the water temperature of your spa. It is located on the front panel of the control box or on the optional deluxe Spa Side Control. Some spas may have both types. NOTE: When operating a spa with two thermostats, set the one you are not using fully counterclockwise.
  • Rotating it fully clockwise will activate the heater and allow a maximum water temperature of approximately 104º F. A full counterclockwise rotation will shut off the heater.
  • Do not expect to feel hot water coming from the jets while the heater is in operation. A covered, 300 gallon spa will experience a heat rise approximately as outlined in the heater operation section of this manual. Your actual heat rise may vary considerably depending on the size and location of your spa, your local weather conditions and the temperature of the air and water. Heat rise and the ability to maintain the heat will be substantially slower or impossible without a thermal cover. Always keep the spa covered when not in use.
  • The graduations on the scale around the thermostat are intended to be reference points only. They DO NOT reflect the actual water temperature in the spa. Remember that a small change on the dial will yield a difference of several degrees, so make small adjustments until you find your preferred temperature. Allow several hours between adjustments for temperatures to stabilize.
  • Use an accurate thermometer to monitor the water temperature.

    Heater Operation

  • Your equipment system may have a convertible heater (120 volts; or 240 volts). Refer to the equipment data label to determine which, if any, convertible options are available to you. The heater configuration was set by the factory and may have been changed by your installer.
  • Your equipment system will operate with one of the following configurations:
  • 120 VOLT - The heater operates on demand at 1500/1080 Watts during low speed pump operation. It will automatically shut off when the high speed pump and / or blower is activated. You can expect a heat rise of approximately 1º to 2º per hour.
  • 240 VOLT - The heater operates on demand at 6000/4320Watts during high and low speed pump operation. It will continue to operate when the blower is activated. You can expect a heat rise of approximately 6º to 8º per hour.

    HQ-5000 Equipment Systems (11,000 Watts)

  • Standard Models - This HQ-5000 series is designed to operate just as the above detailed 240 volt systems. The operational options will be determined at the time of electrical installation (see Electrical Installation section). You can expect a heat rise of approximately 12º to 16º per hour.
  • Continuous Circulating Models - This HQ-5000 series is designed to allow maximum heating while the system is in the maintenance mode. The full 11kW heater is in operation only while the Therapy Pumps and Air Blowers are not in use. As soon as you activate either of the Therapy Pumps and/or Air Blower the system will automatically turn off one of the Double Heaters allowing you to enjoy the full features of the spa while still having a 5.5 kW heater still available as required.
